Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about engaging Mashiri & Co. If yours isn't answered here, get in touch directly.
What information do I need to bring to a first consultation?
For most engagements it helps to bring your last filed tax returns, current tax clearance certificate (if any), recent bank statements, and any existing bookkeeping records — even a spreadsheet. If you're a new business, your certificate of incorporation is the main thing we need to get started.
How is pricing worked out?
Fees depend on the scope, volume of transactions and complexity of the engagement, so we don't publish a fixed price list. Every engagement starts with a written proposal confirming scope and fees before any work begins — there are no surprise invoices.
Do you work with businesses outside Harare?
Yes. Several of our engagements are with businesses based outside Harare, including multi-site operations. Most work can be handled remotely, with site visits arranged where an engagement needs them (audit fieldwork, for example).
Can you help with ZIMRA tax clearance if we're behind on filings?
Yes — this is one of the more common reasons clients approach us. We assess the outstanding position first, agree a plan to bring filings up to date, and then handle the clearance application once returns are current.
Do you handle both individuals and companies?
Our main focus is registered companies and owner-managed businesses, but we also assist individuals with personal income tax matters, particularly where these connect to a business we already act for.
What's the difference between your audit and consulting services?
Audit & assurance is independent verification work — auditing financial statements, internal controls or specific matters, governed by professional auditing standards. Consulting covers the hands-on work of running your finances day to day: bookkeeping, payroll, forecasting and advisory. Many clients use both.
How long does a typical engagement take to set up?
A straightforward bookkeeping or tax registration engagement can usually begin within a few days of the proposal being signed. Audit engagements and full accounting-system builds take longer to scope properly, since timing depends on the state of existing records.
How can I verify that Mashiri & Co. is a properly registered firm?
All of our registration details, practising certificate number and current ZIMRA tax clearance are published on our Credentials page, along with the government registries you can check them against directly.
